外教介绍孩子为什么听力很难提升?

听说读写是孩子需要掌握的四项基本技能,每一项都有他独特的特点和学习方法,听主要是以默听,看视频听,录音听等几种方式,我们需要的是在有效的时间里尽量让我们对英语的语音和说话方式都能够听清楚,并且能理解说的人的思想和目的是什么。在日常的教学中,我们遇到过很多孩子单词句子会拼会写,但唯独听力提升非常缓慢,家长着急,孩子压力也大。为什么我们的听力就这么难提升呢?外教主要将其归结为下面几点:

Listening, speaking, reading and writing are four basic skills that children need to master. Each of them has its own unique characteristics and learning methods. Listening is mainly by silent listening, watching videos, listening by tape and so on. What we need is to make sure that we can hear English pronunciation and speaking methods as clearly as possible in an effective time, and understand the thoughts and purposes of the speakers. In our daily teaching, we have met many children who can spell words and sentences, but only the improvement of listening is very slow, parents are anxious, and children are under great pressure. Why is it so difficult for us to improve our listening? Foreign teachers mainly boil it down to the following points:

一.  接触太少

1. Too little contact

由于学生平时在学校以读、写为主,听力训练少,会让学生误以为听力不重要,造成英语听力经常被忽视的现象。拿我自己的班级来说,会有学生反映说有时候明明自己听对了读音,却写错了单词。有些单词读音差不多,但学生很难分辨。例如who’s和whose,listen和lesson,walk和work,door和doll等等。

Because students usually focus on reading and writing in school and have little listening training, they may mistake listening for unimportance, which often leads to the neglect of English listening. Take my own class for example, there will be students who say that sometimes they clearly listen to the right pronunciation, but write the wrong words. Some words are pronounced almost the same, but it is difficult for students to distinguish them. For example, who's and who, listen and lesson, wall and work, door and doll, etc.

二 . 家长重视度不够

2. Parents do not pay enough attention to it.

家长在家里辅导孩子英语做的时,大多注重于词汇的拼写,课文的背诵阅读。忽略了让孩子培养听录音的习惯。久而久之,孩子自然而然地会把兴趣和重心放在读和写,而忽略了听力的重要性。词汇量积累不够

When parents coach their children to do English at home, they mostly focus on spelling vocabulary and reciting and reading texts. Neglected to let the child develop the habit of listening to the tape. Over time, children naturally focus their interest and attention on reading and writing, while ignoring the importance of listening. Lack of vocabulary accumulation

基础知识是影响听力理解的决定因素。如果这些基础知识不够扎实,训练再强化,效果也不会明显。换言之,词汇量的多寡是听力理解是否顺畅的重要因素。美国的语言学家D. A. Wilkins也说过:“没有词汇,语言沟通就没有意义,人们不能表达任何东西。”大部分小学生仍然缺乏应有的日常词汇和基本用语,对于一些词汇,如get、make、take等,只知道其中的某一含义。

Basic knowledge is the decisive factor affecting listening comprehension. If these basic knowledge is not solid enough and the training is strengthened, the effect will not be obvious. In other words, vocabulary size is an important factor in listening comprehension. American linguist D. A. Wilkins also said, "Without vocabulary, language communication is meaningless and people can't express anything." Most pupils still lack proper daily vocabulary and basic phrases. For some words, such as get, make, take, etc., they only know one of the meanings.

三. 听时养成了不良习惯

3. Develop bad habits while listening

有的学生在做听力练习的时候,为了注重听,会选择闭眼专心听。殊不知这样反而会适得其反。还有的学生习惯专注于听出每一个单词,而不是去抓关键词。这样会让我们顾此失彼,一旦漏了一个单词,就会更加紧张,导致恶性循环。

Some students choose to close their eyes and concentrate on listening in order to pay attention to listening while doing listening exercises. Little did I know that this would be counterproductive. Others have a habit of focusing on listening to every word, rather than grabbing keywords. This will make us lose sight of each other. Once we miss a word, we will become more nervous and lead to a vicious circle.
